Emergency Tree Operations

Project Overview

This project will see the development of a Findings Report which will highlight the wide range of tree operations conducted by State Emergency Services (SES) and Fire and Emergency members, analyse their capability requirements, and consider the contextualisation of existing training products to meet these needs.

Emergency Tree Operations require a wide range of skills, including an awareness of overhead hazards and the mitigation of risks within dynamic work environments. Due to the increase in severe weather events across Australia, these skills are in greater demand across the Fire and Emergency Services industry-sector.

For the purposes of this report, the project will consider tree operations that include vegetation management practices in emergency contexts such as trimming, cross cutting and falling. This project will analyse existing training products that are available across different training packages for possible contextualisation within the Fire and Emergency Services industry-sector.

Consultation

During this phase, Public Skills Australia will collaborate with key stakeholders within the Fire and Emergency Services industry-sector and other Jobs and Skills Councils to inform the development of the Emergency Tree Operations Findings Report.
