Robert Rodgers AM

Air Commodore Robert Rodgers is a senior military officer with extensive experience in personnel systems, leadership development, behavioural coaching and cultural change in the Australian Defence Organisation (ADO) context.
Robert served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for 36 years. He commanded units and groups within the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), and was also deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. As a Personnel Capability Officer, he gained unprecedented experience in leadership development, and behavioural and cultural change within the RAAF, and became the first personnel specialist to attain star rank in the RAAF’s history.
His appointments and command experiences were tied to education and training, including his time in command of the RAAF College, which is responsible for initial and post-initial training in common competencies across the RAAF.
Robert served as the Director Personnel (2006─2010) and the Director-General Personnel (2010─2016). This included working with the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal on workforce competency and remuneration challenges. He fully retired from service in 2021.
In 2005, Robert was awarded a Conspicuous Service Medal for his command of the RAAF Postgraduate School. In 2015, he became a Member of the Order of Australia for his work with ADF personnel.
