Correctional Services Implementation Findings Report

This project will help identify the targeted support Public Skills Australia can provide Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in delivering this important qualification

Sa Department of Corrections 06

Project Overview (February to May)

CSC30122 Certificate III in Correctional Practice is recognised by industry as the foundational qualification to be employed as an Adult Custodial or Community Corrections Officer. This qualification is provided through a range of contexts, usually divided into phases that consist of classroom-based learning, self-paced online modules, and on-the-job training.

This project will help identify the targeted support Public Skills Australia can provide Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in delivering this important qualification. It will also examine supports that can be offered to candidates undergoing the training and assessment as well as provide recommendations to improve and promote the delivery and implementation of the qualification.

The scope of the project includes:

  • compiling a Job Role Analysis to capture candidate and industry requirements for Adult Custodial and Community Correction Officers.
  • identifying the challenges and barriers faced by industry, RTOs and candidates completing CSC30122 Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
  • providing recommendations that strengthen the implementation and delivery of the qualification.

To inform the project, Public Skills Australia will directly engage with RTOs and academies to collect and analyse evidence-based insights into the implementation and delivery challenges that Corrective Services academies, RTOs and candidates are currently experiencing.
