Public Skills Australia is working in collaboration with the Defence sector to utilise the VET System to support the skilling requirements of the Defence sector across multiple occupations and capability domains.

Project Overview (August to December)

Project overview

This project aims to support Defence in addressing new and evolving skills requirements emerging from current and future Defence sector priorities as outlined in the following documents:

  • 2024 National Defence Strategy
  • 2024 Integrated Investment Program
  • 2024 Defence Workforce Plan.

Public Skills Australia will engage with key stakeholders within the Australian Defence Force and the Department of Defence to outline the education and training environment across defence and establish how the VET System is currently being utilised. Engagement will cover a variety of areas including workforce planning, skills identification, training, credentialing and delivery of VET qualifications within the Defence sector.

Consultation

This stage has not yet commenced. Details on consultation methodology and outcomes will be uploaded here when available.

Completion

On completion of the project, the evidence collected will inform a framework to outline the ways in which the VET System could be leveraged to support Defence in delivering national skill standards to meet new and evolving skills requirements.
