Projects
Public Skills Australia is developing training products related to skills and capability priorities defined in the Workforce Plan, with support from key stakeholders from the Government and Public Safety Industry-Sectors. The Annual Training Product Development Plan and Annual Implementation, Promotion and Monitoring Plan, accessible within our individual project pages, details approved project activities for 2025 and 2026. This plan outlines the development of training products and specifically addresses changes to training package products, such as updates, reviews, and creation of new products.

Volunteer Leadership Project
The Volunteer Leadership Project addresses critical capability gaps in non-operational leadership roles across Australia’s volunteer-based Fire and Emergency Services. While operational leadership has long been a focus, many volunteer leaders, such as Brigade Captains and Unit Controllers, step into their roles without formal training in essential areas like team management, conflict resolution, and member support. This project aims to: - Understand current leadership challenges and needs through consultation with stakeholders. - Assess existing training programs and identify transferable skills. - Recommend strategic updates to national training packages and promote accessible leadership development pathways.
