Online Consultative workshops in Auslan and English
Public Skills Australia is delivering an important initiative to review and update the Auslan, Interpreting, and Translating Training Qualifications. This critical project aims to ensure these qualifications meet the evolving needs of students, professionals, and all users of Auslan, both now and into the future.
We are inviting key stakeholders including members of the Deaf and Deafblind communities, representatives from Deaf advocacy organisations, industry professionals, and service providers to participate in a Consultative Workshop. This workshop will provide a collaborative environment, bringing together representatives from government and non-government organisations alongside community members.
Together, we will identify challenges within the training and interpreting industry, explore barriers, and uncover opportunities for improvement. Your insights and expertise will play a vital role in shaping meaningful updates to the qualifications, ensuring they address the needs of the community and the professional industry.
The online consultation workshops are the digital version of the in-person workshops and provide an opportunity for participation for all stakeholders who were unable to join us for our in-person workshops. Multiple Auslan interpreters will be present to support delivery of these online workshops. Zoom will be the application we will use to connect.
Workshop Agenda
- Current State of Auslan Interpreting in Australia & Global Best Practices.
- Perspectives on Current Qualifications.
- Identifying Areas for Improvement.
- Building a Pathway for Action.
The workshop will be held in person, with refreshments provided, including morning tea and lunch for all attendees. To ensure accessibility and inclusivity, Auslan Interpreters will be available to support the discussions.
