This project has now moved into Phase 2. It is focused on putting the validated recommendations into practice by updating the Auslan, Interpreting and Translating qualifications in accordance with the Training Package Organising Framework.

Update #6: Post Technical Committee Meeting #2
This is an update on the Auslan, Interpreting and Translating Qualification Review Project.
Public Skills Australia recently held the second Technical Committee meeting. The Technical Committee brings together representatives from industry, training providers, government and stakeholder organisations to provide advice on the review of the Auslan qualifications.
The focus of the meeting was discussing and reviewing the qualification descriptions and foundation skills outcomes for the Auslan qualifications. Members discussed whether the proposed descriptions accurately reflect the purpose of each qualification, learner outcomes and progression pathways.
Members also discussed how foundation skills requirements should be applied within the Auslan qualifications and provided feedback on how these requirements can better reflect the needs of Deaf learners and the outcomes of the qualifications.
The feedback received will now be used to refine the qualification descriptions.
The Technical Committee will meet again later this month to review project progress, test the draft training products and supporting materials before the Public Consultation Phase.
