Project Overview (February to June)

A summary of the video is provided below.

Public Skills Australia is conducting a review of the Auslan, Interpreting and Translating qualifications to support the recommendations within the Disability Royal Commission. Because of the importance of this project, it has been broken into two phases. Phase 1 involved stakeholder engagement to gather insights and determine the scope of changes required. The outcomes of this engagement have been compiled within the Auslan, Interpreting, and Translating qualifications report. The full report can be accessed using the Report button on this page.

Stakeholder insights were categorised into three parts:

  • Employment and Community insights
  • Training Delivery Considerations
  • Training Package Considerations

The findings and recommendations within the report were consulted and validated by stakeholders in late 2025. The recommendations within the report align to the remit of Public Skills Australia as a Jobs and Skills Council. This is predominantly to update and maintain Training Packages.

Public Skills Australia has the remit of actioning the recommendations aligned to updates within Training Packages.

As part of the federal government’s requirements to update training packages, a technical committee must be established to provide advice on the design of qualifications.

Membership requirements for technical committees are outlined in the Training Package Organising Framework, a key policy document for training review projects.

As we commence the second phase, we are seeking nominations for the Project Technical Committee. To nominate, click here to fill out the Expression of Interest form. You may also submit a nomination on behalf of someone who is unable to complete the form.
