Cross-Industry Biosecurity Skills Review
The Biosecurity Skills Review is a cross-JSC project to support the implementation of the National Biosecurity Strategy - an Australian Government Priority.
Project Overview (March to March)
The Biosecurity Skills Review is a cross-JSC project to support the implementation of the National Biosecurity Strategy - an Australian Government Priority.
Biosecurity refers to the controls and measures to manage the risk of pests, weeds and diseases entering, emerging, establishing or spreading within Australia. The scope of this project covers exotic and established pests, weeds and diseases, including zoonotic diseases, but does not extend to human biosecurity.
Public Skills Australia will support Skills Insight by looking at an extensive range of occupations that relate to biosecurity including standard, ancillary and surge workforces. Through research and industry consultation the report will map current biosecurity occupation and other occupations that have relevant skills and knowledge that can support biosecurity. These will be aligned to current training offerings and any skills gaps identified. The final report will provide recommendations for workforce development, training and the potential for a national skills capability framework to support the National Biosecurity Implementation Committee.
