POL - Police Training Package Release 11
The POL Police Training Package Release 11 will see the update to a range of qualifications to support the Policing industries workforce capability and training priorities. Public Skills Australia will update the POL Police Training Package Release 11 in collaboration with the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA), the peak body of the policing industry within Australia and New Zealand. This project will support the supervisory and management capabilities within police agencies. Additionally, police agencies have prioritised the update of the Not for Public Access (NFPA) training products regarding Bomb Technical Response to be included in the upcoming release. Release 11 presents a valuable opportunity to engage with a key industry partner through alignment of the qualifications with cross-jurisdictional strategies and capability development frameworks.

Project Scope (August to June)
Project Scope The project aims to update the following qualifications:
- POL50218 Diploma of Police Bomb Technical Response (NFPA)
- POL58121 Diploma of Police Search and Rescue Coordination (Marine/Land)
- POL60421 Advanced Diploma of Police Search and Rescue Management
- POL80225 Graduate Certificate in Police Management
Project Objectives Public Skills Australia will support the Policing Industry to update the training package by:
- Updating the Police management, leadership and Bomb Technical Response qualifications to reflect contemporary policing practice.
- Rationalising and streamlining training products to mitigate duplication.
- Updating training products to incorporate recent advancements in technology, as well as contemporary methods of asset detection.
- Increasing the utilisation of qualifications within policing agencies.
Diploma of Police Bomb Technical Response The review will consider incorporating current threat landscapes, technological advancements and operational best practices. This is ensuring that Police Bomb Technicians will safely and effectively manage incidents in dynamic and high-risk environments.
Diploma of Police Search and Rescue Coordination (Marine/Land) & Advanced Diploma of Police Search and Rescue Management The review of Police Search and Rescue Qualifications will aim to align with the current policing environment and operational procedures, national standards and jurisdictional capabilities.
Graduate Certificate in Police Management The review will ensure the Police Management qualification encompasses the knowledge and skills required for the core duties of a Police Manager.
Technical Committee Engagement with the Police sector is currently taking place. In accordance with the Training Package Organising Framework (2025), a Technical Committee has been stood up to provide advice on amendments to the POL Police Training Package Release 11. The Technical Committee will provide expert advice, grounded in evidence to assist in the design and development of the training products.
