Stuart Ellis AM

Chair of the Board

Stuart Ellis is the Chair of the Public Skills Australia Board and was appointed in 2023.

Stuart was an Army Officer for more than 20 years and served in the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS). In 1984, he commanded a joint service contingent in Somalia, and was then appointed as a Commanding Officer of the Royal Military College, Duntroon.

He was later appointed as the Chief Officer of the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS). He then went on to lead a consultancy company focusing on operational leadership for 10 years.

Stuart was the Chief Executive Officer of the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) where he established the National Resource Sharing Centre (NRSC) that formalised resource sharing both interstate and overseas. He worked with Elizabeth Broderick (who was the federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner at the time) to promote gender equity in the Fire and Emergency Services industry-sector. Stuart retired from full-time work in 2021.
