Graeme Murphy
Board Director
Graeme Murphy brings a wealth of Emergency Management and Executive experience to the Public Skills Australia Board.
He has more than 30 years of service to the community working as a firefighter for the former Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board, and more recently for Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).
During his career, Graeme has held many management and executive positions, including Commander Health Safety and Wellbeing, and Assistant Chief Fire Officer for the FRV Training Academy. In this role, he has been responsible for the management of more than 200 staff in a multi-million-dollar complex that operates 7 days per week.
Graeme has extensive experience working in the Emergency Management sector. He has worked at State, Regional and local levels to ensure multi-interagency collaboration, promoting cohesion between agencies. He has been involved in some of Victoria’s most significant campaign emergency events such as the Coode Island fire in 1991, the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009 and the Hazelwood mine fire in 2014, as well as the recent Victorian floods in October 2022.
He is driven by exceptional motivation and passion, consistently challenging himself to achieve continual personal and professional growth. His unwavering commitment to leading with integrity is demonstrated through the guidance and mentoring that he provides to his teams.
Graeme will soon be taking extended leave from FRV and transitioning into retirement.
